OK, here's the news flash - Winning influences people's perceptions.
As for Hall vs. Oshie, fine. But Oshie put up 33 goals while Hall scored 20. With assists they are very close in total points the scoring is will get you more recognition. We're talking wingers, not centers.
I'm not saying Oshie is better then Hall. I'm just saying I'm not surprised that he'd get ranked higher. |

Simmons is any absolute beast in the blue and underrated league wide. Oshie had an amazing year and has consistently been a hugh scoring 1sr line winger.
Hall had a pretty poor year on a bad team. This isn't a ranking of who had the best linemates. He underperformed so naturally he takes a hit.

I know I should be doing football mock drafts and getting ready for that.. but I'm so ready for fantasy hockey, staring at stats, games played, new lineups and linemates for players, mock drafts, pre-draft rankings.. etc etc etc. It's amazing how much of my life I've wasted on fantasy hockey, and will waste again. shameless.
... no I'm not post my yearly fantasy league spam just yet.. but prepare yourself. september is coming. |

wonder if Kessel made this list when he was a Leaf...
I wouldn't worry about ranking systems...if Hall is underestimated on that list then NJ will be all the better for it. Not like Hall's just gonna start playing like poop because he got ranked 20th. |

Two straight seasons of 30+ goals and four straight with 25+. I don't give a poop what situations he gets them under, he gets them. He's also proven to be more durable than Hall while playing a more physical game. I'm not sure the argument can be made of "Give me Hall all day". |

I get so sick of hearing people whine about Taylor Hall, the tragically underrated talent. "If only he had better linemates"....."if only he played for a less dysfunctional organization"...."if only he could stay healthy"....
The guy has been in the league for seven or eight seasons now. At what point do we start holding him accountable for his actual production?? He's produced at an elite level exactly ONE time - four years ago
Realistically, he's positioned exactly where he should be on that list |

I'd love to but I though you had that rule against nobody over 30? Or did you mean someone else?

A better way to do it would be to use primary 5v5 points. On the power play, opportunities and roles are different and then you're not really evaluating wingers, just forwards. While I'm not as harsh on the NHL counting secondary assists as some are, I do think primary points are a more accurate and predictive measure of offensive contributions. Unfortunately I'm not really sure where to find a lot of this stuff right now with everyone shutting down their sites. |
